Mirror was launched in December 2020 to enable selected writers to publish on the decentralized blogging platform. Contributors could gain access by getting voted for in weekly competitions using the platform’s native token WRITE, with just ten content creators selected per week. In an announcement on Oct. 6, Mirror stated that it has now done away with this system and has opened up to anyone with an Ethereum address and wallet. Unlike most large commercial blogging platforms that sell advertising to traffic generated by content, publishers on Mirror control their own content as it is stored on a decentralized blockchain instead of company servers. During an interview hosted by Daniela Cambone from Stansberry Research, O’Leary stated that his investment portfolio has a larger exposure to crypto than gold, however, he still advocates for holding both as they are “two different asset classes” and that comparisons between gold and Bitcoin are irrelevant: “I have 5% in gold. Crypto for the first time is more than gold for me, and I'm going to keep my gold. I see no reason to sell it.” “The best way to look at it, if you’re an investor, either you believe in decentralized finance and centralized finance, and you believe in Bitcoin and Ethereum and the blockchain, or you don't. If you don't, stay in gold as a hedge, and i...

Representative Tom McHenry believes Gary Gensler’s SEC has disregarded standard practice when going after crypto. Gary Gensler, the head of the U.S. The Securities and Exchange Commission has confirmed that his agency does not have the authority or intention to ban cryptocurrency. While responding to questions during an Oct. 5 House Committee on Financial Services hearing , Gensler emphasized that prohibiting crypto does not fall within the SEC’s mandate, stating: “That would be up to Congress.” “It's a matter of how we get this field within the investor consumer protection that we have and also working with bank regulators and others — how do we ensure that the Treasury department has it within anti-money laundering, tax compliance,” Gensler said. “Many of these tokens do meet the test of being an investment contract, or a note, or a security,” he added, emphasizing the need to bring crypto “within the investor protection remit of the SEC.” Gensler also noted “the financial ...

While Politicians Worldwide Clamor Over Tax Evasion, Pandora Papers Show Bureaucrats Are the Worst Offenders

As bureaucrats across the globe continue to ask the common citizenry for access to every financial decision they make, politicians and celebrities worldwide are hiding large amounts of wealth in tax havens according to the Pandora Papers. While American politicians like the Biden administration claim to be against tax corruption, some people view the U.S. as the world’s “main tax lagoon.” Pandora Papers Expose Hypocrisy Among Bureaucrats Worldwide, US Public Officials Manage to Escape Investigation During the last month, the Biden administration and other U.S. politicians have been discussing proposed legislation that aims to address tax evasion by the so-called billionaire class and corporate entities. Bitcoin price is back at $50K, but exactly how 'bullish' are the bulls?

BTC's futures markets premium and options risk gauge show that there are not any signs of excessive leverage or FOMO from traders — yet. Cryptocurrency markets rallied 12.5% over the past seven days to reach a $2.44 trillion market capitalization. However, that move doesn't seem to be inspiring confidence because the same level was tested 16 days ago when a 27% retrace followed ether's (ETH) attempt to break $3,650 over the next six days.  Regulation seems to be a key concerning factor for buyers as the U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote on the $1 trillion infrastructure bill this month. In addition to defining who qualifies as a broker, the legislation would impose anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) type requirements on many kinds of cryptocurrency transactions, which could also be detrimental for DeFi protocols. US lawmaker proposes safe harbor for digital tokens in new bill

The “Clarity for Digital Tokens Act of 2021” bill seemingly builds on an initiative from SEC commissioner Hester Peirce, who has called for creating a safe harbor for projects that raise funds to build decentralized networks. North Carolina House Representative Patrick McHenry has proposed a bill which would amend one of the laws governing the Securities and Exchange Commission to provide a safe harbor for certain token projects. In a draft of the “Clarity for Digital Tokens Act of 2021” provided by the House Committee on Financial Services, McHenry suggested amending the Securities Act of 1933 to establish a safe harbor for token development teams. He proposed letting projects offer tokens without registering for up to three years, during which time teams would be given the opportunity to create a fully decentralized network. McHenry’s bill seemingly builds on an initiative from Securities and Exchange Commission, or SEC, commissioner Hester Peirce, who has called for creating a ...

Bitcoin beats stocks, commodities to best performing asset of 2021

BTC is up almost 50% this year overall, brushing aside corrections and increasingly decoupling from the macro environment in Q4. Bitcoin ( BTC ) is officially the best performing asset of 2021, data now confirms. As October delivers 15% gains in five days, BTC firmly outperforms macro assets worldwide to seal year-to-date returns of just under 50%. Bitcoin hodlers up 49% year-to-date Despite Bitcoin's wild ride throughout the year, downside has failed to grip the market, with a 60% retracement from highs in May now all but cancelled out. The largest cryptocurrency is thus at least 13% ahead of commodities for the year, figures show this week, and 17% ahead of United States micro cap companies.  Compared to how some other investments performed, the picture is even rosier for BTC hodlers. European stocks, for example, are up just 10.3% year-to-date this week. "After the strong Q3 performance Bitcoin is now up +49.1% year-to-date," the @Bitcoin Twitter account comme...
