MLB Team Washington Nationals Partners With Terra Blockchain Community, Ballpark Plans to Accept UST

On February 9, the American professional baseball team based in Washington, D.C., the Washington Nationals, announced the team has partnered with Terra, the open-source blockchain platform and decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). Yearn Finance made almost as much as in March as it did in 2020

Fees from yVaults were the biggest contributors to Yearn’s revenue. Decentralized finance yield aggregator Yearn has released its financial report for the first quarter revealing some impressive earnings for the period. According to the Yearn Finance quarterly report, published on GitHub on April 27, the platform had earnings of $4.88 million for the quarter. Declaring that these were earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization, or EBITDA, Yearn Finance has made more in the first three months of 2021 than it did in its six operational months in 2020, which totaled $3.7 million. Earnings for March alone totaled $3.16 million which alone was almost as much as its operational six months for the previous year. Not every month broke records, however, and in January and February this year, the DeFi protocol earned $528K and $1.19 million respectively. Alchemy raises $80M to power the NFT boom as the 'AWS of blockchain'

Alchemy is the platform behind NFT marketplaces OpenSea, Nifty, and many major collections. Blockchain developer Alchemy has announced that it has raised $80 million in a Series B round to further develop platforms that power non-fungible token marketplaces. The funding round, announced on Wednesday, April 28, was led by technology-focused investment manager Coatue, and Addition Capital, a venture fund from American investor Lee Fixel. Also participating in the round was the Glazer family, who own the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Manchester United, and VC firm DFJ Growth which has also invested in Coinbase, SpaceX, and Stripe. Genesis spot volume up 287% in Q1, corporate treasury service takes off

Genesis Global Trading released its Q1 report on April 28, with corporates leading trading volumes, accounting for $8 billion in spot trading alone. Leading full-service cryptocurrency prime broker Genesis Global Trading has seen spot trading treble in the first quarter. Corporate interest accounted for the biggest slice of trading, with Genesis attributing part of its success to its Bitcoin treasury product “Genesis Treasury”. The Q1 report released on April 28 revealed the firm had processed $31.5 billion in spot trading volume — a 287% increase from $8 billion in Q4 2020. It also saw $10.5 billion in derivatives trading. Corporates accounted for $8 billion of the total spot trading volume, an increase of 25% from the previous quarter.
